Payroll in the Dominican Republic (2026): TSS and Rules

Payroll Outsourcing in the Dominican Republic

easyco - payroll outsourcing in the dominican republic

Payroll in the Dominican Republic combines social security, tax withholding and Labor Code benefits. Errors bring surcharges from the TSS and the DGII, which is why many foreign employers outsource it.

The payroll landscape

  • Social security (TSS): the employer registers with the Social Security Treasury and pays employer and employee contributions for health (SFS), pensions (SVDS) and work-risk insurance (SRL) every month.
  • INFOTEP: a 1% employer contribution on payroll for vocational training.
  • Income tax: the employer withholds salary income tax and files it with the DGII each month.
  • Minimum wages: set by the National Wage Committee and vary by sector and company size.

Mandatory benefits

  • Christmas salary (salario de Navidad), equal to one twelfth of the year’s ordinary salary, paid by 20 December
  • Profit sharing of 10% of the company’s net profit, distributed to eligible employees
  • Paid vacations of 14 working days after one year, rising to 18 after five years
  • Notice and severance payments when a contract ends without cause, as set by the Labor Code

What payroll outsourcing covers

  • Monthly payroll calculation and payslips
  • TSS and INFOTEP filings and payments
  • Income tax withholding returns
  • Christmas salary, vacation and termination calculations

Why outsource

An outsourced provider keeps up with rule changes, files on time and gives you one monthly report, so you can hire without an in-house HR department. For bookkeeping and taxes, see accounting and tax in the Dominican Republic.
