Registered Office Address in Mexico

Every Mexican company needs a registered address. In practice that means two related things: the corporate domicile stated in the bylaws and the tax address (domicilio fiscal) registered with the SAT. Here is what each one means in 2026.

1. What is a registered office address?

The corporate domicile is the city named in the deed of incorporation. The tax address is the specific address registered with the SAT when the company obtains its RFC. For a company, the tax address is where its main administration is located.

2. Why is it important?

The SAT uses it to locate the company and may visit it to verify that it exists.
Official notices from the SAT and other authorities are linked to it.
Banks ask for proof of the tax address before opening a corporate bank account.
Your state payroll tax and some local permits depend on where the company is located.

3. What are the requirements?

It must be a real, verifiable address in Mexico, not a P.O. box.
It needs proof, such as a recent utility bill or a lease, in the company’s or the owner’s name.
The SAT can mark a company as “not located” if it cannot find it at that address, which blocks invoicing.

4. Notifying changes

If the company moves, it must file a change-of-address notice with the SAT within the legal deadline. Changing the corporate domicile named in the bylaws also needs a shareholders’ resolution formalized before a notary.
